Dragon Ball Heroes Introduces A Very Different Goku

Stay on target

If you’re unfamiliar with Dragon Ball Heroes, it looks like you may want to acquaint yourself quickly, that is, if you want to check out a brand new version of hero Goku, after all. Dragon Ball Heroes is a trading arcade card game in Japan that features various hero avatars, the ability to collect various types of Dragon Balls, and tons of cool lore unique only to the story. If that sounds cool, the news gets even cooler. A promotional anime was created just for Dragon Ball Heroes, and it’s pretty darn awesome.

Why? Well, just check out the new version of Goku. Pretty cool, right? As the Dragon Ball Heroes story goes, this is actually Goku Xeno, a very different version of the hero we all know and love. As such, he isn’t a clone of regular Goku or anything like that, but a different personality entirely. In fact, he’s been around for quite some time, first debuting in Dragon Ball Heroes.

Goku Xeno

Goku Xeno is all duded up in a tight black shirt, loose pants, and a long red robe with a blue sash. He’s even got his old power pole from his youth on his back, tied with a string. He’s extremely different from Goku, and sounds a bit like Goku Black, but without being an evil jerk. He’s a lot more mature, and especially callous when compared to the real Goku everyone knows and loves. Think of him as a combination of Vegeta and Goku but a little less arrogant, and you’ll have an idea of who Goku Xeno is.

As far as the promotional anime and what it means for Goku Xeno and crew, here’s the anime synopsis:

“Trunks returns from the future to train with Goku and Vegeta. However, he abruptly vanishes. The mysterious man “Fu” suddenly appears, telling them that Trunks has been locked up on the “Prison Planet,” a mysterious facility in an unknown location between universes. The group searches for the Dragon Balls to free Trunks, but an unending super battle awaits them! Will Goku and the others manage to rescue Trunks and escape the Prison Planet?”

Hopefully, we’ll get an English dub of this episode so we can learn more about Goku Xeno, but for now we’ll be content with this awesome character. He’s pretty sick, for real.
